Melissa And Raymond

This past Saturday we had the pleasure to photograph Melissa and Raymond's wedding. The wedding took place in Memorial Chapel at the University of Maryland. I have been in the Washington DC area for 8 years and had never had the chance to visit the chapel. The chapel is absolutely beautiful, both inside and out, with pews that seem to go on forever. The ceremony was beautiful, with a close friend of Raymond's performing the ceremony. Everyone was a joy to work with. Below are a few photos from the wedding.

Chad and Cara

I met Cara a couple years ago when I first moved to the Shenandoah Valley after I met my wife. My wife works with Cara and they are also good friends. After spending time with Cara and Chad at several out of the office work-related events, I knew they were a match made in heaven. (Especially after I found out Chad was a fellow gamer and Nintendo Wii owner.) Even though we still haven't had our MarioKart throwdown, I still respect Chad a lot, and was both happy and excited when I heard he and Cara were planning to marry. But I was even more thankful when they said they wanted Blyth Scott Photography to shoot their wedding. The day finally came last weekend, and we had a great time shooting the wedding. Congratulations to you both, and here's a sneak peak of what is to come...

Flag Football

One part of Blyth Scott photography has been a little busy on the kid front... we've got one in flag football and one on the way. So I thought I'd show you some of the action from the flag football game. They're 3-0 right now!

Outer Banks

Last week I had the chance to finally go on a summer vacation. The vacation was an awesome way to finish up the summer, and nothing better than coming back home to the start of college football. Even though Virginia Tech lost, I am still excited for the season. I was hoping to get a lot of great sunrise and sunset photos but the weather wasn't cooperating, but I did get a few shots. Below are a few sunset pictures on the sound and a shot of the beach in the morning.

Engagement Ring Photo Shoot

Sorry for the delay in posting to the blog. On Sunday I took some pictures of an engagement ring to help the owner sell it. I needed a macro lens, so I rented a lens from the local photo store. This shoot was exciting because it was the first time I had ever used a macro lens. The lens was fun to work with; I would definitely like to get one in the future. I didn't have the proper equipment I needed for the shoot but I improvised. I basically used a white sheet and three desk lamps to get the correct lighting. I think that the photos turned out pretty well. Here are a few of the pictures from the shoot.

Savannah Photo Shoot

I had the opportunity to photograph a friend's baby this weekend. Savannah was great to photograph; she is very photogenic and has some of the prettiest eyes I have ever seen. I keep shooting until she had enough and was ready for a nap. I hope to take more photographs of her in the future. Here are a few of the photos from the shoot.

DC Mall

So we went to the downtown mall area of DC. For those who don't know, that is the area where you can find the Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument, Jefferson Memorial, Capitol Building and Tidal Basin.

We came away a little frustrated. It was humid and we didn't feel like we got what we wanted. Nevertheless, here's some of what we walked away with...
